When I was but a wee tyke, me mum would place a quarter in me 'and 'n' I would take it straight off to the corner grocer. It bought enough of the penny stuff to make me sick from eating.

We did have a penny candy place about a block west of Asbury and Washington... or maybe two blocks. Can't remember it's name, but I can still picture the quite large case filled with many kinds of penny candy. Talk about dedicated sales space..

Anyway, I'm having trouble remembering if they were in large jars or trays, or what. They were not in small containers...

In our local store, I seem to recall the shelves were built like troughs, with dividers to separate the candies.
