You should read the Brothers Grimm in a reliable translation from the original--the description of how the wicked witch was burned up by Hansel and Gretel is particularly graphic.

that's what i grew up reading. And collected Slovak fairy tales, full of blood and gore. Some dose of it is probably good for a child, to not be over-sheltered. And I remember enjoying them tremendouslly.

Little kids are natural ghouls . . .

There was a man of double deed
Who sowed his garden full of seed
And when the seed began to grow
T'was like a garden full of snow
And when the snow began to fall
T'was like some birds upon a wall
And when the birds began to fly
T'was like a ship wreck in the sky
And when the sky began to crack
T'was like a stick across my back
And when my back began to break
Then i was dead and dead indeed.

Irish children's street song

"Oranges and lemons" say the bells of St. Clement's
"You owe me five farthings" say the bells of St. Martin's
"When will you pay me?" say the bells of Old Bailey
"When I grow rich" say the bells of Shoreditch
"When will that be?" say the bells of Stepney
"I do not know" say the great bells of Bow
"Here comes a candle to light you to bed
Here comes a chopper to chop off your head
Chip chop chip chop - the last man's dead."

Famous English children's street song, referring to the bells of London churches

i might start a thread. my and my sister and my mother have a plan to write a book - journal type book - kinda like the Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver (a must read!) where each chapter is in a voice of a different daughter of this crazy missionary guy who took them to Congo. Anyway, we've been trying to get our dad to write memoirs forever, but we claims we're trying to burry him alive, and generally does not like the idea. So we have to write it for him....But none of us has time. Since I always somehow find plenty of time for a2k, that might be a good avenue for me to give it a try. Eh, we'll see.

Why don't you start just a little something for FTH (free the humans). Thats what it's for, a first step, some feed back.

Remember the rule! WRITE WHAT YOU KNOW! This expieance that you have is a real asset as far as putting down something people want to read. You can start with a diolouge with me for instance or you could start a thread and then some character like Dungasnake will come by and get you all fired up then the words will flow. Then you can take your words from that thread and peice them together to make a small peice I could put in FTH the you could get some feedback and take it from there.

You could use A2K to get some work done

I can't stop watching this show. Couldn't stop watching Teletubbies either. I think there's something eternally childlike about my brain, ah well.
