Replacing vinyl with brick...?

The vinyl siding on my house was completely damaged in a recent hail storm, and I have to replace all of it. I'm wondering how much more it would cost to replace it with brick. I've looked all over the net to try and find a ballpark price, but its not an easy little factoid to find. I'm sure its a considerable cost difference, but I have the money - I think.

Has anyone bricked their home? What style of house do you have and what was the cost?

One thing that will make it expensive is if there is no concrete already there to support brick. I don't have any idea what it will cost, however.

Wire lathe over the wooden exterior, concrete mud, and then the stone or brick.

I found this little calculator that estimates brick at $5.25 per square foot.

That will vary based on what part of the country you are in.

You might want to check out the many faux stone and brick surfaces. There are a couple of manufacturers out there. Google "manufactured stone". Coronado and BoulderCreek are two of the big names. I have used the Boulder Creek products on some projects.
