Next swing, that is about right. I was eight then, wearing my Hopalong Cassidy cowgirl outfit that my mother made. We moved to Chicago shortly after that and the grammar school had, to me, humonguous swings. I can't remember if I'd seen swings before that but I suppose I did. Yeh, in Santa Monica. That was where I fell off the Teeter Totter.

Of course, if you jumped off those giant swings in Evanston, just north of Chicago, you landed in a slight coat of gravel, or plain old asphalt.. Talk about a quandary.

LTX, Osso. My old history teacher used to grab everyone's attention from the outset, by wearing a hat or piece of clothing, relevant to the lesson.

He once came in, wearing a WW1 german helmet, complete with spike on top, and shouted "VY VILL YOU NOT LET ME HAVE AN EMPIRE?".

He then replaced it with a pith helmet and replied "Because, old boy, we rule the seas, and don't want anyone muscling in on our territory".

He then explained why WW1 came about in great and entertaining detail.

Brilliant teacher.

(the Fez was when he was giving a lesson on the turning point of WW2 in North Africa, at El Alamein, if I remember correctly)

8/10 - I think that vintage pic is sweet and evocative ... kind of intuitively conjuring up a nice moment of quiet reflection amidst the sharp debate. Which serves all our mental healths..
