Hello, I have a RainSoft Silver Series water softener. It wasn't regenerating when it was supposed to, so I kept resetting it. Then I noticed the time of day dial wasn't moving, and it's been stuck in the same spot for days, I did a manual regen the other day and it ran for about 3 hours before I had to stop it. Anybody have any idea on what is wrong with it. I called the local company I bought it from but nothing yet.

I do not know how to solve your problem, but maybe you could help me. I have dirt in the bottom of the tank and the owners manual does not say how to clean it. do you know how to clean it out? i would really appreciate some information!

You have a bad timer motor. Your warranty should cover this item if not they are available and you can replace it yourself.

Dirt in your salt tank? Is this a separate tank or all-in-one unit?

I have a similar problems. Recently purchased a house with a silver series water softener but the previous owners didn't seem to maintain it. I have dirt and dead lizards (now removed) in my salt tank, remnants of a block of salt (mostly removed), and I know that the power was off for a time while as the house was vacant before I moved in. The dirt concerns me and I would like to know how to "flush" the unit. It is all one unit and I don't have a manual. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

The dirt come from less than pure salt blocks.
Here is a picture of the good stuff -

The brand name is the same, but the packaging has changed colors.
You can use pellets made by the same company.

Once you get the container cleaned out add your new salt
then push the white lever down for immediate regeneration.

I just moved into a house with a Rainsoft water softener. How much do these salt blocks cost and where can I buy a couple.

Use the Morton salt crystals in the blue bag.
Also, the dirty looking brine water will not affect the Rainsoft system's performance. I strain it out with a few paper towels every now and again. Very Happy

@phalinj,
Sounds like the time clock is not working. I replaced mine. I paid about $75 for it from the repair man
