Pretty pretty names.
Any story/meaning behind them(apart from the obvious)?

I saw a show recently about an American guy who makes gondolas in Venice. One thing I never realized is that gondolas aren't symmetrical, thus you can propel them with one oar without having the boat go in a circle.

And there's what called by historians the "myth of Venice": Venice regarded by the Venetians regarded as a divinely ordained centre of religious, civic, and commercial life, a community blessed by St. Mark, protected by its lagoon, and governed by a balanced constitution incorporating monarchy, aristocracy, and republican liberty.

The Romans called the district between Verona and the sea "Venetia", because an Illyrian tribe, called Veneti lived there (before them an Etruscan population).

Im assuming people would know these names in their general knowledge, it wouldnt be a chore, just a way to remind themsleves of things they already knew.
I didnt ask for anybody to research them.I could have done that myself.

I thank everybody who has contributed, except Steve.

But I researched exhaustively! I typed my little fingers to the bone and stared at the computer screen until my eyes watered....
