How's the ride in that short bus?

Obama is still in the lead, and most likely is going to be president.

Not bloody likely.

Listen Kevin, my prediction is based on some numbers. Polls support my prediction along with the fact that more individuals have contributed to Obama's campaign.

I know many people who say one thing but do another, but I don't know any that put their checkbook where their mouth ISN'T.

I even made a small donation.

To go one step further, I wonder how much he's willing to bet that Obama will lose in November?

Finally, you see what is supposed to be discussed here.

I'll start with Obama's position on closing our illegal prisons such as Gitmo.

Please show where anyone has shown that the prison is illegal!!

1) Our detention of said prisoners defies our own laws. Habeas corpus, rest in peace.
2) Our methods of interrogation meet the standard for illegal torture as defined internationally. I believe we signed that one too.

Yes, MM, Illegal prison.

Good evening. I hope yall are feeling fine this evening.
I heard something about the state of Georgia on Monday. The gist was that this southern state could go for Obama. The rationale: blacks and liberal whites going for him. And Barr, the Libertarian (who probably will not resonate nationally but who is from GA) may siphon off votes from McCain.

No, you have shown that SOME of the action at that prison might be illegal.
You have not shown that the prison itself is illegal, and thats what you claimed.

Sure MM, what then would a illegal prison be if not a prison in which illegal things are taking place?

Then using your "logic", EVERY prison in the country is illegal.
After all, illegal things happen at EVERY prison in the country.
Things like murder (illegal), rape (illegal), drug usage (also illegal), etc.

Should we close every prison in the country?

If it is found that those who run the prisons are the ones who are committing the crimes, they should either be kicked out of running the prisons, or they should be closed. For Guantanamo Bay is not a place where the prisoners are engaging in illegal activities towards one another, it is a place where the guards, following direct orders from the management, are engaging in illegal activities.

I guess I have to remind you about what diest said...

Do you deny that illegal things are happening at EVERY prison?
Or is it only illegal if its done by the prison staff?

I guess you're right Jeff, I can't hold prison guards to a higher standard than criminals, certainly can't hold the president to that standard or consequence for that matter. Rolling Eyes

You're trying to hard to ignore the plain facts. Drinking from Kevin's well?

Only if things are sanctioned activities, is the prison considered to be an inherently illegal one.

For example, a room in which torture is regularly practiced - such as some of the rooms at Guantanamo, and at Bagram AFB, or at Abu Ghraib - can be called a 'torture room.' A room in which that happens once really isn't described that way.

You are playing silly word games, and you know it. You know exactly what Diest is getting at.
