blatham would rather we all burn the flag. Maybe that would make him think we are all so reasonable. Feel free to dislike Canada if you want, blatham, but not everyone wants to think like you do.

You are an idiot. Blatham as Never suggested burning anyone's flag and not Blatham has never once suggested everyone should think like he does. Just once in awhile Okie try being honest instead of a shithead.

He doesn't think kissing the flag is the right thing to do, so I thought maybe he would like the opposite. I am only reading what Blatham says and using logic.

I happen to love this country. Maybe you guys don't? There was a time in my life I felt like kneeling down and kissing the ground when I got back here. Maybe you never had that experience?

No, I suspect you would prefer I experience:

and other "countries" where the popular notion may be that national identity is at best passe, and at worst destructive.

The way your post mirrored the one by Fbaezer on the page before is a great example of unintended irony :-)

Get a life.

Utter nonsense CI.

No one needs to parse Michelle Obama's words to get a sense of what she believes. Her comments were clear enough and do not need a tortured interpretation to find their content.

I haven't seen anyone suggest that her comments are a matter or life or death. I have seen many comments concerning whether or not her comments in any way reflect upon the candidacy of her husband. Now I appreciate that for many of you the election of Obama rises to a matter of life and death, but it's nonsense to dismiss concerns for his wife's comments in such a manner.

Are you really suggesting that it shouldn't make any difference at all what Obama's wife believes?

I don't expect a single Obama supporter to have second thought about his campaign because of what his wife may have said. I did expect to see the sort of charge you levelled, and I was not disappointed. I simply make the argument that it is neither silly nor depraved to incorporate the beliefs of his loving partner in one's opinion about the man. I don't think it makes sense to base one's opinion of him solely on his wife's opinions, but I doubt anyone on the fence about him will do so.

I've already expressed my reasons for disagreeing with such a notion. You may want to try reading them, before dropping what you consider a droll reply.

people who buy into the Mrs Obama (I don't love america crap) are as freakin' idiotic as people who would buy into McCain had an affair crap. If there's not more to the story then it should have ended before it began.

You listed a great many countries that you implied, in response to Blatham's taunt that you should go abroad to meet with peoples less gung-ho about their country, were just as much proud of their nation as Americans are.

Only thing is, Fbaezer had just listed another long list of countries, including quite a few that you listed too, to note how they've actually been shown by research to not be as unwaveringly proud of their country.

So your speculative list had been defused even as you were compiling it. And the way the format of your post actually mirrored the one of the rebuttal that turned out to actually precede it - I mean, it was odd/funny/strange/ironic (I dunno, pick one).

That's the reason so many people watch the olympics; to support their athletes, and wave the flag when they win. It goes from international, down to country, down to state, to county, to city/urban. Look how important high school/college/pro football is to people's lives.

The pundits are saying that Hillary's last speech was a winner for her. As for the whole debate, I think it was a toss-up.
