Occam Bill: for France's sake...I hope he is not as hateful with his policies as he appeared in the campaign. Especially with the problem of immigration. That has to be handled carefully as you would a grenade. Sarkozy would be wise to be inclusive instead of divisive like another leader we know all to well.

You're sweet, VNN. :-)

I forget if I said anything here about Oprah's endorsement -- has that been pointed out? I'm really curious how big that will end up being. It's the first time ever that she's endorsed a presidential candidate.

Oprah has a lot of influence - more than most people realize. Her endoresement give Obama a full leg up on all the other candidates - in my estimation.

And the reason you posted this trash from Rush Limbaugh? The right wing has to be really concerned about a black man winning the presidency. The slime has just really begun. "Barack the Magic Negro" to the tune of "Puff the Magic Dragon" with images of Sharpton, Farrahkan, and Jesse Jackson with a fake black accent done by one of Rush's goons.

Yep, they are REAL WORRIED!

Please.

Obama is an attractive fellow for several reasons, none of which are grounded in substance.

Of course, this does not mean that he cannot become the greatest of American presidents, but are you willing to cast your vote for emphemeral promise rather than proven mettle?

If you are, God bless you believers in fairy dust and dragon slayers.

Perhaps this sort of leap of fancy is just what we need, but it certainly is irrational. How to reconcile this with the oh so rational disciples of Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens (Yes, that bastard turn-coat!)?

The Liberal mind is a rational one, and yet it sojourns upon so many paths of faith, promise and fantasy.

The Liberal Mind is a pale facimile of the liberal mind.

Please. Talk about ephemeral.

Liberals like Obama because he has liberal views.

How irrational is that?

Liberals like Obama because he provides them with the promise of Liberal faith. That is rational?

Perhaps you can provide us with the rational evidence of how Liberals and non-Liberals alike can base their vote on the achievements of Obama.

Obama is an article of faith.

All well and fine except that most of those that make this leap will argue that they are, undeniably, rationalists.

Just as irrational as liberalism is irrational. In my opinion, it is therefore extremely irrational.

"As Mankind becomes more liberal, they will be more apt to allow that all those who conduct themselves as worthy members of the community are equally entitled to the protections of civil government. I hope ever to see America among the foremost nations of justice and liberality."
--George Washington

I don't think America agrees with you.

Especially because, you must admit, there has been a pervasive and steady liberalizing trend throughout the entirety of our existence. And it isn't going to stop.

Only liberalism is rational, because it puts humanity before all else we subjectively value.

Its not from Rush!!
The song is,its a parody of several L.A. Times articles that called Barak the "Magic Negro",but the video is not by Rush.

Why does it bother you?
All Paul Shanklin did was repeat what the press reported.

So,if you consider the term offensive, remember it was the press that first used the term, not Rush Limbaugh.

Ephemeral, Finn? What about the right's belief in the neo-con vision for the Middle East if that weren't "pie in the sky"? Bush was supposed to have lots of experience and you throw in Cheney and Rumsfeld and look at the great combination of experience. Hey, look how that turned out?

And as for experience? Abe Lincoln didn't have much experience before he ran for president, but he became the best.

Maybe Barack will be ephemeral...maybe his run will be thought of as a great try, but when you look at the past and history...sometimes the ones with experience aren't the great ones. Sometimes the great ones come along because the strength they have are inside them.

Who knows. eh?

And MM? Shanklin is Rush's man.
