Percent of American Income Tax Payers, Percent of All Annual Incomes, Percent of All Taxes Paid, and Average Annual Incomes

POITP = Percent Of Income Tax Payers
POAI = Percent Of All Income
POAITP = Percent Of All Income Taxes Paid
AAI = Average Annual Income

@ican711nm,
Obviously, you think it is fair to only compare 50% of taxes to income.
Why do you leave out the other 50% of taxes ican? Is it because it tells a slightly different story?

@ican711nm,
Could you define, Ican, which "average" you are using in Average Annual Income? Mean, median, mode.
Perhaps you could just give us a source for your numbers.
Thank you in advance for doing that.

@JTT,
JTT, The US government has RESCUED millions THEIR right to life, explictly taking THE LIVES OF THOSE WHO HAVE DENIED MILLIONS THEIR RIGHT TO LIFE. The OBAMA government has INCREASINGLY taken the liberty of millions. The OBAMA government has INCREASINGLY denied to ... millions the pursuit of happiness.

Those who believe and work to secure the right of the pursuit of happiness cause those who deny that right to forfeit their right to the pursuit of happiness.

Before Obama became the President of the USA, the USA had come to the aid of millions to save them from totalitarians and rescue them from natural disasters. Yes, some Americans have pileged, robbed ,and murdered, but have largely been held accountable by other Americans for their dastardly crimes. The real truth is the USA has continually been an unusualy charitable nation. Study true history and not the false propaganda history of USA haters who resent the USA's resistance to and frustration of the haters lust for what others have.

Is America perfect? Hell no! For one thing, Obama must be impeached and removed before he does much more damage! But America is a hell of a lot better than have been communist, nazi, and fascist countries. Do we need much improvement? Hell yes! We're working on it!

Do you need much improvement? Are you working on it?

@realjohnboy,
One source is:
U.S. Census Bureau, Current Population Survey, 2008 Annual Social and Economic Supplement. Numbers in thousands. Households as of March of the following year. A.O.I.C. stands for alone or in combination.
For example:

@parados,
Parados, if you think "it is UNfair to only compare 50% of taxes to income, you can supply the other 50% of taxes (PLUS SOURCE) THAT YOU CLAIM tells a slightly different story? I LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR slightly different story.

@ican711nm,
Here is what you listed ican
Quote:
POITP = Percent Of Income Tax Payers
POAI = Percent Of All Income
POAITP = Percent Of All Income Taxes Paid
AAI = Average Annual Income

POITP…POAI…POAITP…AAI
…1%.…...21%…40%… $365,000
…5%.…...30%…56%… $145,283
…10%.…..43%…65%… $103,912

Using your POAI here is the POATP
POATP percent of all taxes paid
My source is here
http://www.cbo.gov/doc.cfm?index=5746&type=0&sequence=1

POITP…POAI…POATP…AAI
…1%.…...21%…21%… $365,000
…5%.…...30%…36.6%… $145,283
…10%.…..43%…47%… $103,912

So.. let me ask you ican do you think it's fair that someone that earns 21% of total income pays 21% of total taxes? Why do you think so?

@ican711nm,
The debate about extending the Bush era tax cuts involves people making over $250K a year.
The chart you source, Ican, stops at $250K, failing to break down the incomes of the 2+ million people above that.
Do you have any link to something that might give us more info on that?
Thanks.

This is interesting...

Quote:
McDonald's Corp. has warned federal regulators that it could drop its health insurance plan for nearly 30,000 hourly restaurant workers unless regulators waive a new requirement of the U.S. health overhaul.

The move is one of the clearest indications that new rules may disrupt workers' health plans as the law ripples through the real world.

Trade groups representing restaurants and retailers say low-wage employers might halt their coverage if the government doesn't loosen a requirement for "mini-med" plans, which offer limited benefits to some 1.4 million Americans

snip

Quote:
Last week, a senior McDonald's official informed the Department of Health and Human Services that the restaurant chain's insurer won't meet a 2011 requirement to spend at least 80% to 85% of its premium revenue on medical care.

McDonald's and trade groups say the percentage, called a medical loss ratio, is unrealistic for mini-med plans because of high administrative costs owing to frequent worker turnover, combined with relatively low spending on claims.

So the new health care bill will actually cost some people their medical insurance.
I dont think thats what was intended, but the admin was warned that might happen.

@mysteryman,
Interestingly, McDonalds can pay health insurance even for hourly workers in other countries.

I wonder why?

A combination of $5 Big Mac's, a health care system that can deliver American quality product at less than 1/2 the cost, and a mandate for all workers to have health care so there is no competitive disadvantage in offering health care to your workers.

Here is a link to an editorial by Bob Cesca which was published on the Huffington post yesterday. I cut and pasted the entire piece on the Conservatism thread and will not repost it here.

However, Cesca says what I have been saying: the the Republicans are not playing a fair game but are acting rather childishly. The Democrats compromised to make government work.

Furthermore, the captains of industry have been even more childish, taking their toys and going home with the money that 80% of the working public earned on their behalf.

@mysteryman,
I should point out two things:

1, McD's 'insurance' is a joke that covers practically nothing. The workers who will no longer be able to get insurance from them (hypothetically speaking, as I'll get into in a minute) could find insurance through the Exchange that is both cheaper and far better.

2, both McD's and the HHS department claim that this story is pure bullshit; made up from whole cloth. The WSJ is just doing their usual scare story business.

You forgot to include the part about the person who forwarded the article having a PhD.

It was however reassuring to learn that Democrats have always been fair, restrained, even self-doubting and excessively self critical in their relations with their political opponents. I'm sure the ghosts of FDR, LBJ, Sam Rayburn, Wilbur Mills, Hubert Humphrey and Teddy Kennedy would be pleased by the news. Jimmy Carter & George McGovern too.
