@ican711nm,
Maybe you should read some of what you post ican and then consider it before you post something else.

If the majority of the idiots in this country hadent voted for Bush in 2000 we may have avoided the worst of the recession.

So: maybe. I don't know if I could say this with confidence, because the factors which were involved are not entirely partisan in nature. There were mistakes made by a wide group of people - though I have little doubt that a Dem in office would have had more willingness to oversee the derivatives market...

What do you think they could have done to prevent the collapse in 2007? Specifically.
This was answered in my previous post:
what Bush et al recommended.

A hint for you - regulating Fannie and Freddie at that point would have done nothing to stop or even lessen the financial crash. ...
This statement was refuted by me in my previous post.

Contrary to your claim, I wrote a lengthy and substantive post a few pages back detailing exactly how the financial crash happened and how it would not have been prevented by anything the Dems could do in 2007...
This claim was already refuted after you posted that vacuous unsupported claim of yours.

@ican711nm,
You have zero understanding of the underlying issues which caused the problem, and apparently think things are 'refuted' just because you assert that they are incorrect. I am no longer going to waste my time bothering to write substantive posts on this subject in regard to you; instead, I am going to ridicule your ignorance every time it raises it's ugly head, because frankly that's more fun, and less time consuming.

@maporsche,
Your comments lack all credence. Unlike you, I can and do back up what I say, and you and others have not succeeded in showing error in what I write. Thus, your judgement of me is worthless. The policies that you like are extremist and lack reality.

I don't believe you wrote a substantial post in this thread any time lately. In fact, I'm sure of it.

This is getting boring, I'm out. Please understand that while I'm sure you are a nice person with many redeeming qualities, your understanding of politics is poor and you should try doing even the most basic research before commenting on modern issues.

Thanks for the complimants. I think your an idiot. Howdy Doody could have sigined the GM bailout.

"The 'bailout' of GM was not done by Obama but, once again, by Bush in 2008."

Bush administration gave GM $17 billion. Obama gave $50 billion. Your full of **** by about $33 Billion. I'm not even checking the rest of what you said. This is enough.

Your are sure nothing I said was substantial and yet in literally less then five minutes work on the first thing I checked on I find a major contradiction.

On the next election maybe we should elect a red or blue Howdy doody and you and ican can argue about that. But its still Howdy Doody.

Are you sure I'm a nice guy?

bye bye

No, I'm actually sure you're a loudmouthed asshole. Like a lot of people, you don't know **** about politics but somehow think you have all the answers by claiming 'both sides are equally bad!'

But I was trying to be nice.

@Amigo,
Do you know why the Obama admin kept giving money to GM at that point, Amigo? Do you know anything about the situation at all? Or are you just spouting off because you're pissed that someone has pointed out that you don't know what you are talking about?

This whole exchange is vaguely amusing. But, like all humor, it wears thin quickly for the audience. Any final ripostes?

If I were scoring, anyone who resorts to bold, capital letters in red is a loser. Anyone who cuts and pastes incessantly is of no consequence to me. I feel the same way about folks who post links expecting us to go there.
I respect people who can write a few paragraphs cogently about an issue. They can make their argument in their own words without resorting to insult. That, alas, has become rare.
Look at many of these threads and who started them. Fox on the right; Sozobe on the left, for example. Both of them are friends of mine. I have talked to them privately. Each became disgusted at the vitriol here.
Would you agree that in the internet age everyone can become a pundit? And that allows people to spout off about an issue without thinking it through?

Yes, I agree; but the alternative to engaging these folks is to let them just spout off idiocy and lies with no recourse, and I'm not sure that's preferable to situation we currently have.

If more people would make an effort to engage in substantive and long-lasting discussion of issues, we would have... substantive and long-lasting discussions. However, as the level of interest in a topic falls off, the level of signal noise increases tremendously, as the only people who are left are die-hards on one side or the other.
