ican, happy New Year to you, and for that matter - happy new year to every person here on this forum. I have been away from this forum for the past week, and with time I might review what has been posted, but frankly it is disheartening and pretty depressing to think about this year with the losers in the administration and the Congress that we have to deal with. I could be a whole lot more optimistic about the country if we had some adults in Washington that actually loved the country, and that knew how to be responsible and honest, and that would cease their ultra socialist takeover efforts, and that would cease lying to us as a part of that effort. They are virtual traitors to this country, the country that I thought every citizen should love and honor, but sadly they do not. We have some real work to do, to try to clean house in Washington when the next election rolls around.

@okie,
okie, Keep being depressed about our country; the great recession is now over, and the stock market gained almost 20% last year. Less people are losing their jobs and homes, and factory output increased into positive territory during the past two months.

I guess your new year's resolution hasn't changed from your view of the world since last year.

Yeah, keep depressed, okie. It'll be another year wasted in okie-land.

@okie,
Okie, Thanks and I wish you a Happy New Year too!

I like and agree with your post except for one word: "[The losers in the administration and the Congress] are virtual traitors to this country."
The losers in the administration and the Congress are not virtual traitors to this country. They are real traitors to this country.

@djjd62,
Yes, I read Hitchens' article, "Flying High."

The article is a valid characterization of one way the OTCs (Obama's Thieving Coveters) are failing to secure our liberty.

I think the OTCs are traitors, and their failure to secure our liberty is one reason why I think that.

The following news item epitomizes the current administration. They are unengaged, uncaring, and unadult when it comes to our national security and our freedom and liberty. They are only interested in themselves, their power, self importance, and furthering their Statist and radical socialist agenda. This is not too unlike the Clintons, but Obama is even more focused upon his radical socialist agenda, and he has been able to do more in that direction so far, which makes him even more dangerous to the country than Clinton was.

National Counterterrorism Center Director Michael Leiter reportedly didn't return to his office post in McLean, Va., until several days after Christmas, and his decision to do so has been looked down upon by intelligence officials"

@okie,
Thank you for never again typing "socialist" on this site with out first getting a ******* clue what precisely it means, in terms of Marx's ideology and its application historically.

Failure to comply will be understood as an admission that you're just plain ol' being a dick.

I'll give you 20 to 1 that he uses the term "socialist" again without first getting a ******* clue what precisely it means.

I'd further wager that by his own demented definition, he, himself, is a socialist.

Ridiculus. Perhaps the administration official I posted about did not care that much, evidently, or he would have aborted his ski vacation, djjd62. You need to use proper reasoning here in terms of what I posted. Conservatives are upset about the administration dropping the ball, but apparently you don't care?

If you had a clue about socialism, and opposed the extremist forms of it, you would never have voted for Obama. Or perhaps you don't care, perhaps you favor a Marxist in office?

Obviously there are mild forms of socialism and more extreme forms, and Obama is an extremist. He has not had time to institute all of his beliefs, far from it, but that does not mean he isn't trying. Get a clue, Bill.

Besides that it's either 'socialism' or not - if Obama is an extremists then that's equal for European conservative governments and parties. Not to speak about Social-Democrats, Labour or even Socialists ...

I guess the official's inaction reminds you of when Bush continued to read a child's story after being told that the country was under attack, and then disappeared into a mountain hiding place.

@okie,
To explain further for those individuals here that don't get it yet, what Obama is at heart does not equal what the United States policies are now, nor are they equal to all of what Obama is currently pushing. What Obama is doing now is only a portion or beginning of the total package that he wants. Folks, to understand this, you need to read Obama's writings, and study his past, the people he learned from, and the people he admires, and this will give you more clues. If anyone has believed the mantra or image of Obama built by the media to get him elected, that he is some sort of centrist, then that would explain why you are still confused about what Obama really is in terms of his political beliefs.

In short, Obama does not believe in what has made America what it is, liberty, freedom, entrepeneurship, innovation, and private business enterprises. He may say he believes in innovation and so forth, but he believes the State should do it, he has confidence in the State to bring about the changes he envisions. There should be little doubt about this for anyone that wants to be honest about this.

@okie,
interestingly enough it had nothing to do with what you posted per say, just the general feeling from the talking heads since the christmas event

if something had happened, i'm willing to bet that folks would have mobilized, but nothing happened, and the the threat actually emanated from out side the US, getting all crazy in duluth or a hundred other american cities seemed a bit much to me

apart from 9/11, the airline threats have all come from over seas, shoe and underwear bomber did not board planes on american soil

as for my thoughts on conservatives and their love for terrorism, terror sells, terror gets votes among a segment of the population, just like handouts do for others, really two sides of the asme coin
