I have inherited a watercolor painting signed by Richard S. Daggy, 10/36. It was given to my parents by one Emily Vogel of Wilton, CT, possibly Daggy's sister. He may have had a father and brothers who were also painters.
I believe he was a painter of the Connecticut impressionist school, perhaps studying at the Weir Farm artists' colony, now the only national park in Connecticut. The scene is reputedly one of Wilton at that time, looking to me to be a view of what is now known as the Kaiser Estate, during autumn.
The painting has a van Gogh-like quality, with extremely bright colors and a slightly surreal appearance. It is strkingly beautiful.
I have tried some searches without much success. I would like to know more about this artist's biography, and the monetary value of the painting I have.
Thanks!
I hope this will help you a little:
