It's a silly question but it has implications. "What you don't know won't hurt you" and all.
So, it is ok to poke fun at the Amish online? t's not like they are gonna see it. :-)
"Amish Porn" sites (not porn of course):

Hmmmm - on the one hand, I think it is good to poke fun at things.
On the other hand, I think it is wrong to be rude and horrible to people. I don't know that whether or not they see it is awfully relevant - though it causes less hurt if people do not become aware of it. I am sure Amish people would be hurt about these sites - and I would not be all that sure they do not know. Don't Amish kids get cut a fair bit of tolerance in their teenage years?
On the whole, I think the sites are wrong, based on a value of not being horrible about people, whether they know about it, or not.
I do not always keep to my own anti-mean, anti-back-biting rule, of course.
Sigh.
hey - those sites are cute!
Is your first post a pre-visit post?
Yes - but I figured they were not horrible sites! You be tricksical!
I still think the Amish would be unamused.
However, I have fallen in love with the hot chair. My life is in tatters.
Personally, I think it is wrong to single out a group of people (or an individual for being a member of that group) for any kind of mistreatment. After all, we do know that not
all[/i] moderators are overbearing control freaks drooling over the idea of deleting someone's post. Don't we?
Problem is, you see, for me, that I love satire - especially of those who think differently politically and so on from the way I do - and I must, of course, agree with satire of those with whom I DO agree, too, so that I look reasonable. (I am not, of course - but one does attempt to LOOK so!)
There is something about the Amish that kind of begs for satire - or just good humoured poking fun at.
But it DOES seem mean! As far as I know, they do nobody any harm.
Those sites, however, satirise the people seeking porn - I think they just poke fun at the Amish.
I have re-thought - I think those sites are fun!
I think REAL pseudo-Amish porn (if you get what I mean) would be unacceptable.
Probably exists, though.
True story (perhaps): I did a catering for a rich Amish person, for his daughter's wedding and barn-raising. Couldn't believe it...when he dropped of the deposit, he was in a Porshce pulled by horses!
there's true, and then there's true...
K, maybe it is only troo, not true
A small christian group who keep to very strict rules of life - wear old fashioned clothes, limit their use of machinery and suchlike.

A book ? A movie ? or a website ?
Have to admit, first time I heard of them, though I am not surprised considering I sort of hang out in trendy boutiques and electronics shops :p
Sorry, Guatam, movie, with Harrison Ford.
Of course it's ok to poke fun of the Amish...
Isn't that what they're there for?
