The absolute worst must be (and it´s used everywhere):

"Let´s get out of here!"

I much prefer "why don´t we stay RIGHT HERE for awhile and see how this terribly dangerous situation unfolds?" which of course we never hear.

One tough guy to the other, just as the tables are about to turn, as in a double cross:

"Not so fast, pal..."

That's a great one eoe--because we know what happens next! Heh, heh...

There's always this chestnut, which someone presumably actually said once: "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes..."

[Must have been a battle that predates the surgical strikes of today.]

FYI, not that it matters, "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes" is attributed to US Revolutionary War General William Prescott, at the Battle of Bunker Hill.

Speaking of War, how about....
"Ve haf vays uf making you talk."

Thanks, Equus, for finding the origin of that quote. I had a feeling it was of that vintage--a time when you had to see your foe before firing precious ammo!

I've noticed that the posts have mostly been lines that are sort of formulaic, or cliched. I hope y'all don't mind that I'm naming the lines that are most memorable to me...

"Shut up, you had me at hello."
-Renee Zellweger to Tom Cruise - Jerry Maguire

"You make me want to be a better man."
- Jack Nicholson - As Good as it Gets

"Every time I think I'm out, they pull me back in."
- Al Pacino - Godfather III

"I'm out of order? You're out of order!"
-Pacino - And Justice for All

"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
Roy Scheider, after his first view of the shark - Jaws

whew! this is kinda fun!

Snood, do you really look like Laurence Fishburne? If you do, may I have your autograph? If you are really Laurence Fishburne, woooowee, come to Mamma.

From some flying movie: "Do you really know how to fly that thing?"

Naw... I'm not Larry f; don't look like Larry F.

(although I'm not chopped liver, if I may say so myself)

But I've always been impressed with him. One thing - he will make an indie movie in a heartbeat, just because he likes the material. did you know he can be seen in Apocalypse Now, as a teenager?

(for you trivia fans)
