This is a bit time-consuming, but works for me. When there is a red x (or, as I get, the word "image" but nothing else), quote the post, then copy and paste the url that appears in a new window.

Works then, almost always.

I clicked on "image" and now I see three big b&w pictures.

Quote the post? How does one quote the post?

You just did, I believe...

When you push the "quote" button for the post in question, it takes you to a screen where everything appears as the poster typed it. You can grab the url there.

This should take you to an example of what I mean -- if you click here, this should be the same as if you clicked the "quote" button for the first of hhh1984's posts...

You will see three urls, bracketed with "[img]" tags. Copy and paste just the url -- everything between the "[img"] tags but NOT the "img" tags -- and paste that in the address bar of a new window.

They were b&w, or black and white.
