That's what I see on bags of coffee.
Now, you can call me a coffee weenie, but that's way too much for me.

I generally use about half that.

What coffee/water ratio do you use?

Tea, Assam Superb, one heaping teaspoon loose leaf per cup, steep for 3 1/2 minutes. When making a pot add an additional heaping teaspoon.

You are a coffee weeny, no doubt.

My scoop is supposed to be 1 for 2 cups.

Mine is one scoop piled really high for 2 cups, plus another extra scoop for the pot.

Weak coffe actually makes me nauseous.

Next you'll be telling us you add milk and sugar to your java....bleech.

I take my pot without water and don't spoil at it with Assam.

Two tablespoons per 6 oz. of water; sounds like it would taste a bit gritty to me. Drunk

I grind a macchina full of beans and add them to the whatchacallit, the brownpaper filter, and signal for the water to plotz through.

Should I buy already ground beans, I add some to the filter and go from there. My some is probably deeper than yours...

Gritty - we've been having that discussion on the Starbuck's thread. Mildly roasted beans and hot water don't usually add up to grit.

Let me rephrase that;

2 Tablespoons of coffee in 6 oz. of water; yes, that's gritty.
