You know, it's funny, but I've had many dreams where I almost died, and then I woke up right before it actually happened. But yes, dreams are a link to the paranormal. It's also your subconscious going wild. See, when you are awake, your conscious mind takes over everything. But when you are asleep, your subconscious is free to f*ck around, and f*ck around it does. But dreams are influenced by many external factors. Like, if you fall asleep with the radio on, then your dreams will change. I also believe that spirits can reach out to you through your dreams.
