The Cubs are in first place! What do you say about that?
Go Cubs!
deja vu---Last year on abuzz some lady named Zelda, posted a similar thought. My response was about four lines of just ha ha ha . My question is
" Do people understand that GOD, in his infinite wisdom and mercy, has created the Chicago Cubs merely to demonstrate to humankind that , in order to atone for the sins of the world, Chicago will forever remain "the Hades of the National League"
GOD has stated that this is not open to debate, so
deal with it, oh ye foolish holders of hope and displayers of springs eternal promise. Cubs will fold by Flag Day.
I'm not holding my breath on this one!
Chicago Cubs are still in 1st place. This is going to be the "Big Year"!
Just read in the paper that the "goofball" who was arrested for assaulting the umpire at Tuesday night's White Sox game had spent tuesday afternoon at the Cubs game. I guess the prosperity is too much for Cubs fans.
The beer must have been free, that day!
Sosa got beaned on the head yesterday. Ball broke his helmut in half.
It's still April. I note that Cub pitchers have the lowest ERA in the National League. That, in and of itself, makes current numbers a bit suspect.
But then, I'm a Braves fan. So feel free to disregard the preceding...
A whole bunch of new, young guys joined the Cubs pitiching staff.
That fact does make them kind of scary, New Haven!
Still in first and still A-class.
Still in 1st place. This could be the year.
Yes, they're doing well. As are my resurgent Atlanta Braves.
But it's still early...
My Astros are just a game out of first.
I'll be at Wrigley on Memorial Day to see the Cubs vs. the Pirates.
Have fun, PDiddie! I plan to catch the Braves here in Seattle when they pay their first ever visit in mid-June...

What I wouldn't give to be there on the NorthSide of Chicago!
Hell, New Haven -- you could be there all season for $800/month if you wanted to. Less, if you don't mind silverfish and roaches.

Would thou prefer large, hungry rats on Boston's Beacon Hill?
I grew up on Chicago' Southside and saw only one rat the whole time. It was on the football field at the University of Chicago. I had to move to Boston, to experience the joys of rats running through my apartment in search of yum-yums!
Listen, don't tell anyone in Houston this, but...
I could get cheerful for the Baby Bears.
Moises Alou has been one of my favorites for years. He needs to stay off the DL, and stay hot at the plate, but with that pitching--Wood, Prior, Clement--and a bully that stays tough (they are just now getting back their six-fingered closer, Alfonseca) they should be in it all the way to October.
Long as Sammy's toenail doesn't grow back ingrown again.
