What's with all the triple posts that seem to be popping up?

I have seen three triple posts (the same post showing up three times in a row) in two different threads today.

Something afoot???

The only thing I've noticed is that the site has been very slow for the last hour and a half. Crying or Very sad

Very, very slow.
I've also recieved multiple copies of PMs. The loading of a Post Reply has been so slow for me, I've gone to do quick chores in the house, come back and it still wasn't posted.

This has happened around the lunch hour on a few days recently.

I checked my other groups to see if it was a whole net thing, and the other groups were not experiencing the same delays.

(FYI)

Blech!

Mutliple postings often happen when the site is slow or wonky, because people keep hitting "submit". i.e., it's not that they hit submit once and there are instantly 3 posts -- it is that they hit "submit", nothing seems to happen, they hit it again, nothing seems to happen, they try once more, and give up. (That's why it's often 3, I'd wager.)

Once you've hit "submit", it will show up, even if it's not on your screen right away. You can remind people of that if you notice that some have multiple posts often.

(This all goes for PMs, which also have a "submit" button, too.)

IMO, this really refers to the slow speed of the site (anyone contacted CdK about this?). I had to remove two excessive copies of my own posting as well...

It has taken most of the day for me to even get back on this site.

Yeah, it's been having problems. My understanding is that Craven knows and has been dealing with it. Like, if you're posting, it's 'cause he's fixed it.

The problems persist, and as far as I understand, the problem refers to the hosting server...

The site has been being attacked for a few days. The attacks are not successful so they are being attempted regularly.

The slowness is because the attacks have cause problems with the server logs. I have been fixing/will fix the problems as they arise.

Thanks to everyone for your input.

Thanks to Craven for working on the problem. Good luck, Captain.

Ahhh...what is with this "attack" stuff? I'm not especially computer literate -- and this may be something wonks understand, but I don't.

Like, has the site angered Don Rumsfeld or anything?

I can tone down my posts if necessary.

Craven, who do you think is doing the attacking? Or would you rather not say?
