Toronto for the wildcard - they have too much depth not to make the postseason, methinks - but I gotta think the Yankees will bat their way to the WS (much as it hurts me to say it). Where they will be soundly thrashed by the Washington Nationals.

It's obviously too early, still...

I see Oakland making a race for the AL pennant, and the White Sox trying to stop that in a great 7 game Championship Series.

I see the Mets and the Cards in the NL Championship Series.

Oakland over Mets in 6.

Why Oakland? Who do they have?

Wrong question.
Baseball is still a team sport.

What do they have, rather?
Good rotation, good bullpen, consistent line-up, reasonable bench.

They may repeat, once again, their second place division finish, but I think their time has come.

On the AL East, I see a 3 team rush to the pennant, including Toronto. I do believe Boston will be third place, but I would not bet on that.

That was January. Ahem.

But I will change slightly my predictions, having seen the Red Birds on a slope.

Yankees over Tigers in 4
A's over Twins in 5 (the toughest match-up, winner will take all)

Padres over Cards in 4 (the only true change)
Mets over Dodgers in 5

A's over Yankees in 7
Mets over Padres in 7

A's over Mets in 6

In case no one else has noticed, the Mets' starting pitching is running on fumes...

Most experts predict a Yankees-Padres series because of the Mets faltering starters. But pitching was not the Mets' forte during the season. I mean, they have such a strong line-up that they are contenders even when Oliver PĂ©rez (3-13; 6.55) is on the mound (10 of those 13 losses were when he was with the non-batting Pirates)

It's easier for me to post later than you guys, but I'll say:

NYM beat LAD in 4 games
SD beat STL in 5 games

NYY beat DET in 5 games
OAK sweep MIN in 3 games (A's looking good)

NYM beat SD in 6
NYY beat OAK in 7

NYY beat NYM in 7 game WS.

I don't like the Yankees, I just think they'll win.

Go Padres!

Yep. If Maddux does well, it'll give me another reason to hate the Braves' ownership. Ted, come back!

I now realize my hindsight was better in January. 2 out of 4. Hmmm. But I got the important two.

Oakland over Detroit in 6
Mets over Cards in 6 (as in January)

Oakland over Mets in 6 (as in January).
