What teams do you believe will go the farthest in 2006? I think the Yankees, White Sox, Cardinals, and Astros have the most potential. Any other ideas?

This may just be wishful thinking however the problem with the Mets has been the failure of the finisher and the lack of timely hitting. They have done a good job in the off season in filling in those gaps. Therefore, i believe they have as good a chance as any other team in the league to make it to the world series.

I'm a Red Sox fan but I voted for the Yankees (for shame!) -- they've made a lot of major acquisitions, although their pitching could be better. I feel they are the team to beat.

If I were a Red Sox fan I would NEVER vote for the Yanks. Shame on you!

I'm not a Red Sox fan, and I don't vote for the Yankees, either.

It's obviously too early, still...

I see Oakland making a race for the AL pennant, and the White Sox trying to stop that in a great 7 game Championship Series.

I see the Mets and the Cards in the NL Championship Series.

Oakland over Mets in 6.

The way the Red Sox offseason is going, they're a third place team in the AL East. Fockers better get to work.

Wrong question.
Baseball is still a team sport.

What do they have, rather?
Good rotation, good bullpen, consistent line-up, reasonable bench.

They may repeat, once again, their second place division finish, but I think their time has come.

On the AL East, I see a 3 team rush to the pennant, including Toronto. I do believe Boston will be third place, but I would not bet on that.

The Braves will win their division, then lose in the playoffs...

Which will make me sad (again), but then I know that the same thing will happen to NYY (again).

The Blue Jays are going to win AL East. Just a guess.

Whose Gonna Win it in 2006
Has to be the Yankees. Unless the pitching can't hold the other team under 5 runs a game they should be celebrating championship #27, but hey we all know money does NOT buy you a winner. This time around they went for the right players and I believe they are also hungry now.

Damon, Jeter, R-Rod, Sheffield, Matsui, Giambi, Poada, Williams or Phillips or whomever and Cano.

Where's the let up?

Glad to see the Bosox fans realize their moment is done. And if anyone thinks Cleveland is winning it then I have something else to sell them for sure. The WHite Sox shot their load last year, Billy Beane will never win, so I guess for many reasons it is the Yankees. And who ever thw other league puts up will have to make a good show it. Let's go Cubs!

Hey, this is my first post. This thread caught my attention. I love baseball and I like the Blue Jays this year. A Toronto championship wouldn't be that surprising. They have the most depth and arguably the best pitching in the league. Their line-up is solid and well above average. Their only real concern is their D, and even that is still above average.

EDIT: I'm surprised there isn't a Blue Jays option on the poll.

I hope it is as great race between the Jays and the Yanks since the whole Boston thing is boring at this point. The JAys have improved dramatically but it still remains to be seen what kind of pitcher Burnett is. Halladay is awesome, but after that what? Getting a closer was huge, but he has never faced the harsh glare of playoff lights, or even a series in NY that has relevence in September yet.

It should be a great race.
