This view is one of the fires to the sth of us I've enhanced it a little as my camera doesnt pick it up well.

This shows the skyline to the east of us (again enhanced a little)
For anyone familiar with the area this is looking toward Mt Buller Mt sterling.

It has rained a very little here, nowhere near enough to make any difference but hopefully more to come.

How are you going, dadpad?

I've had to look around to find this thread again.

You've gone rather quiet at your end. Perhaps you're tired of dwelling on it?

It is so distressing to hear that at least one of the fires was deliberately lit. That's beyond my comprehension.

Anyway, warming up again, I see, so ..... Sad

Fire conditions have remained quiet over night, residents in the Jamieson, Kevington, Gaffney`s Creek, A1 Mine Settlement, Woods Point, Merrijig, Sawmill Settlement and Mirimbah areas need to remain vigilant.
Fires continues to burn around the base and sides of Mt Buller.

Fires damaged areas now measures over 520,000 ha

9 kiwi fire fighter have been injured out near Jamieson. 6 in mansfield hospital 2 more seriouse.
I heard the choppers go mad this afternnoon and thought something may have been up.

My relos are still OK. Fire on two sides and they lost the summer paddock - had 70 head of cattle in it - they broke the fence and all survived with feet a little singed. They've bulldozed around the house. We're very worried, they aren't young and they're on their own. But the farm is all they've got....

Frightening situation, Hingehead. Got my fingers crossed for your family.

We had a really bad fire in one of the sheep farming areas here in the Sacramento Valley last year. Several hundred sheep and cattle had to be put down by vets to end their suffering from their burns.

My only hope is that the arsonist who was arrested for starting the fire, suffers at least as much as those poor animals did.

The North East Fire Centre Coordinator Mr. Tom Sloan said that although the rain has not been sufficient to extinguish the fire, it had eased the fire intensity and provided some relief to threatened communities.

Whilst rain fell throughout much of the Mansfield district, there were some areas that have still only received very low rain falls, he said. Although fire danger is relatively low, residents in the Woods Point area will need to remain alert as the fire in the vicinity of the town may continue to create a threat that must be carefully monitored over the next few days.

You all need to just gather the neighborhood and walk up to the fireline and spit on the fire. That'd make enough rain to put it out!

How is the air quality, is there enough wind and rain to at least clean it up a bit and give your lungs some relief?
