Ok, so I like a good debate with the rest of ya, and many of the members I respect here on A2K demand nothing less than a well thought out, educated debate. I have always enjoyed, even if I didn't participate in, the debates over God versus no God and Christianity versus non-Christianity.
Usually, the parties at least present some sort of concrete reasoning behind their belief. However, in the last few weeks, there has been this onslaught of idiot believers and non-believers who come on here with their one liner "proofs" and bad typing and grammar and expect us all to fall down and bow to their belief system. The ones who think it's so because someone has said it's so.
I can't stand it. A2K is turning into an idiots playground.
Oh where or where have the good debaters of religion all gone????? I am betting poor Setanta is getting board with all these mindless freaks. For or against it, please A2K debaters....come out of hiding!!!
Well, there is always the ridiculous and slighting rejoinder . . . at least we can some comic relief out of the god squad . . . too bad Frank ain't around . . .
Setanta- Yeah, I miss Frank.
I think we all miss Frank.
Why do you hate Christians, Bella?

I don't...unless you're one. Then I hate 'em.
I just realized I made a typo in my original post and can't fix it. Dammit. Casting stones left and right.....

Don't hate me because I'm beatified.

I tried, really really hard, not to crack up at this one.
Failed.
Miserably.
Oh guilt!
Sweet, suffering guilt!
I think that what we are seeing lately are folks who come from the school of thought that asserts, " The bible says it, I believe it, so it must be the truth". There apparently appears to be little effort to explain their rationale for their beliefs through intellectual argument.
I certainly believe that people have the right to believe what they want. I think though that it is folly on their parts to to attempt to convince others of the rightness of their beliefs, with nothing more than wishful thinking to back their assertions.
See?
Good Thread
Bad Thread
Maybe I am a big grump right now, with the Holiday season, having my money stolen and dealing with a lack of sleep. But come on people (in the 2nd thread)....take a good look at the thread above you and tell me....does your argument look ANYTHING like that???

Which is a good thing, considering I am being a real **** today and want to think and say whatever I want to think or say.
Why thank you!
Does that mean you don't like me when I am not being feisty?
this is the time of year that makes some people feel they need to re-affirm their place in church and start preaching to other people in an attempt to validate thier church'ly short comings.
internet is proving to be a lazy persons way to do it.
Well, that's good because I think that you are a doo doo head.
In my opinion, real proof can only come from physical evidence and logical analysis. A person's belief or lack of belief regarding anything "divine" is based on intuitive feeling.
I think there are several reasons Bella. Intelligent debate requires that people stay away from ridiculing each other in any way. I don't see that a lot here, which is one reason I very rarely get involved with posting here. I guess that I just don't like having my views ridiculed. I like a good debate/discussion, but too often both sides devolve into wise-cracking about other's views. And personally, I have better things to do with my time than put up with that.
