I have no control over what's on my desktop. It belongs to the prison and they control all that stuff. I only use it when I can.

I did have the following image on for a short period of time. It is rather interesting. If you concentrate on the cross in the middle the pink dots will disappear, being replaced by a solitary green dot. It is obvious what is happening, but interesting none the less.

I have a Sunday comic of Alley Oop for wallpaper. The computer is set to hide unused icons. The Oop strip is the one from the late 50s in which he gets a haircut and shaves and sits in a diner waiting for his girlfriend, Ooola. She doesn't recognize him until he calls her name. He is nonplussed when she laughs at him. It's in black and white.

8 icons/folders lined up on the left

this pic from my April trip to NYC is the background - well, not background, because it's sized to be in the centre

I grin every time I see it.
Hat head.
Very Happy

That's cool, Gus!

I had a pic of a grinning sozlet, just changed over to the Field Museum pic I posted here a bit ago -- it's not a great pic but I like how it looks. Four icons on the right (HD, Downloads, PC Files, and Scrabble. Heh. Was a time when I needed quick and easy access, haven't taken it off yet.)

That's it, I like having the desktop clutter-free.

Here's the image I have right now, which is totally badass. Though you have to picture it much bigger to really get the badassity of it...

Gorillas have very small wieners, you know.

Oh, and rabbit wieners are bigger? Pfft...

We have the boring desktop. I share this computer with my wife, so neither of us wants to do much customization.

Blue background, 9 icons.

Prefer the uncluttered, simple look.

I also like to use the toolbar at lot.

When I get bored I do things that make sense to nobody but me. I decided to rearrange my desktop:

Before:

After:

http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c57/roverroad/DESKTOP2.jpg

It's the old high school building that I graduated from. I've always been interested in architecture of large community buildings like hospitals, shopping malls, colleges and high schools. Because these buildings and campuses tend to evolve over the years and no one single person is responsible for their final design.

This building in particular broke ground in 1953 and was only about 6 classrooms then. Expanded over the years to be the 2nd largest high school building in Oregon. To get an idea of it's size, it's 2 story and those little yellow rectangles are school buses. The original photo is undoctored. The 2nd photo I had fun with. So that's what I did with my desktop today : )

gus, cool - that's really great.

My desktop has a photo that I took in Vienna, Austria about 30 years ago. I made it with a larger black background set to the right slightly. The icons are the ones I use most often. There is one labeled "Fewer Uses Stuff" that has a lot more in it.

Across the top and bottom are news tickers. Over on the left are icons for frequently used stuff, over on the right is the folder farm and the local weather radar. The general layout stays the same, but the icons and folder roster change from time to time, depending on what I need to do. The pup is Sam. He's wearing a 30" collar buckled through the last hole. Sam pretty much doesn't do anything Sam doesn't want to do.
