What's on your computer desktop?

Reply Sat 17 Dec, 2005 11:23 pm
On mine, I have exactly twelve icons and folders, all lined up neatly to the right side of the desktop. I have one for my hard drive, which I call "My baby", one shortcut icon for InDesign CS, a folder called "Desktopstuff," one called "latest resumes/work stuff" and one called "some crap". My desktop background image is a close up of the new King Kong in mid-primal scream.

What about you? What's on your computer desktop?

I have various icons on the left side of my screen, various quick links on my tool bar at the bottom of my screen. And the following picture as my desktop:

On mine, I have exactly 68 icons. Lined up neatly. My background image is a sapphire Compaq theme.

I have my Microsoft Office bar vertically on the right of the screen and my taskbar neatly at the bottom of the screen.

I am surprised that you are interested in this stuff. :-)

intrepid, it may turn out to be boring as hell, but I thought it might possibly give us an insight into each other's personalities. And maybe it will be interesting after all.

That being said, yours sounds pretty boring. Smile

Nice pic, littlek.

Do you think I should opt for a picture background or something? I never look at the background since I am usually either doing something productive or using up productive time here.

Here's the image I have right now, which is totally badass. Though you have to picture it much bigger to really get the badassity of it...

I don't know...that looks a bit too busy to me. And it isn't really the right shape for a desktop. It should be wider than tall, eh?

Actually, there are some damn cool ones on the movie website, Kingkong.com. I got mine from work. the New York Lottery just barraged the city with movie posters for "King Kong Millions" and my company did a lot of them. They looked so cool I just had to have one.

So Kicky, do you line up your icons on the RIGHT side of the screen? (Can you even do that? I've never tried it.) Kong wouldn't look badass at all covered up with icons.

Yes, of course you can do that. And yes, I do that. So what about you, Eva, what's on your desktop?

Yo I'm not trying to sound like one of those people that think they know everythig but here goes, I think to line them up on the right side you just need to:

1. Right click on your desktop.

2. move your cusor over the "Arrange icons by" tab until it 'pops' out

3. then look for the "Auto arrange" tab and un-tick it. If it is not ticked then you don't need to click anything....

http://img471.imageshack.us/img471/7750/changeicons7sy.png
it should look like this....

4. you can now click and hold icons to drag them onto the right, or wherever you like.....

There ya go!!!

But I'm sure you've already found out experimenting with your mouse......but it pays for me just to tell...........no wait..i'm just bored...

I have 21 icons, placed neatly on the left of my desktop. The background is a darkish green. I have adjusted my XP computer to the plain vanilla Windows 98 style.

I do have a screen saver. It is a banner that says, "Turn off the damn computer"! Laughing

A half empty cup of arabica coffee, two toffee wrappers, a toy frog that goes "griddip" every time one moves, a final demand from kitchenware monthly and an A4 pad, listing all of the racey websites that I happen to discover..... purely by accident of course.

I have a medium mesasy desktop, and I change the background quite a lot.

The icons are all on the left.

It's kind of boring, really.

I have all of my icons (only necessary ones that I need on a regular basis) lined up neatly to the left atop a paisley background.

(Btw, I don't trust people who line their icons up on the far right. They tend to be rich, fat guys who don't care about the little people. They start ridiculous wars and take away our freedom in clandestine operations. Nothing personal, kicky.)

I hate having icons on my desktop. I use my toolbar to store my icons. I usually have more, but I just reformatted and I'm still setting up my computer.

I change my picture often, but rite now I have a satelite image of the high school that I graduated from in 1990.
