But it's very, very small.
I missed Thanksgiving. I had to work. I was in the store and whole turkeys are on sale for five bucks. I called my room mate and told them I'm coming home with a whole turkey for five bucks that it was our lucky day. They said "What are you nuts? Thats all weve been eating is turkey". No thanksgiving for Amigo
And the pumpkin pies I made got eaten without me. I hear they were good.
Oh, no! <faxes Amigo some leftovers>
Eek, from here to So. Cal., they might be better used as a doorstop when they arrive. Hmm.

the old retired ones are free game though huh?
sweet potato cakes..
blend your sweet potato with all spice and cinnamon..
( sorry I dont know the measurements for this.. I just toss in an amount I know tastes good...?? )
Instead of usual pie crust, get some crushed almonds and cahsews.. in a bowl mix them with about 2 tablespoons of honey and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar.
Cook it on the stove for a few minutes to get the honey good and sticky and it makes it easier to mix the brown sugar together..
pour that mix in the bottom of a pie pan and mash it flat on the bottom.
Pour in your sweet potato mix and even it out.
Then put it in the fridge for about an hour or so.
voi- la
sweet potato pie
And gamey, too...
We came up with a new use for turkey leftovers last night...
We occasionally go to a southern restaurant that has pulled pork and pulled chicken. Figured we could make pulled turkey. (E.G.'s idea, my execution.) Just pulled it (basically, hand-shredding it into thin strips), then boiled a mixture of bbq sauce (good stuff, that we happened to have on hand) and a little water. Once it was boiling, put in the turkey, drenched it, and let it simmer for about half an hour. Sozlet and I had ours on buns, E.G. had his without. It was really good!
sounds like turkey sloppy joe?
<Shudders. Covers eyes and waits for the BBQ gods to smite Sozobe.>
Kinda, yep. The good part is that it makes the turkey super moist and tender.
This was the basis of my "recipe" (pretty loose):

Who, me? <looks innocent>
Midwesterners have no concept of true BBQ.
"Father forgive them, for they not know what they do."
It's not true [iBBQ[/i], it's true leftovers.
And it's a southern dish. ("Pulled" anything.)
if the sauce in the can says BBQ, then it must be so...
Pulled meat. It seems like something Slappy would endorse.
The sweet tater cakes sound divine.
Does the flying spaghetti monster have an opinion re barbecue?
Couldn't you have just simmered it in ketchup? That way it wouldn't have been blasphemy.

Yes, and this is also how we weed out the slow learners. And you all wondered why the server was faster.
Ill have to invite DD over for some BBQ eggs and toast..

BBQ is a dissertation subject. Or should be.
Smoking versus glazing.
Pork versus beef.
Steamed versus dry.
The proper preparation and application of rub.
<Sigh.>
I think it's time for a trip to Lockhart.

Soz, at least, can plead ignorance.
You are simply tempting fate.
