Thanks for all the suggestions! Especially about the weather at airport vs. lakefront. Thanks, Joe! I would never have known to expect that.

Will go casual then. (Whew!) Jeans with earrings. I can definitely do that! (Maybe even white or khaki jeans? It IS Spring, y'know.) Yeah, mac, I had definitely planned on jeans & comfortable walking shoes for the Art Institute on Saturday. By Sunday, y'all will be tired of seeing me anyway, so it won't matter what I wear then. Wink

For those visiting Chicago from warmer climates should understand that the people in Chicago have become immune to extreme cold. When I moved to Chicago from California, I had to wear layers upon layers of clothing during the first winter. After four years, I was able to handle the cold winter with snow on the ground in Denver in a t-shirt. Think layering when coming to Chicago.

Thanks, CI, and, of course, Joe - I'll listen re the layering.

I'm still a stranger re Albuquerque weather after my first few months here. Eureka, a victorian seaport at the north of California with daytime temps of around 53 in winter and 63 in summer, and nighttime temps of hardly ever below 32 degrees, felt colder to me than here, where I remember Dys saying, when I was staying at his and Diane's, "it's twenty degrees". I said, "you're kidding", and went out on the back patio... eh, not so cold to me. Thing was, Eureka is a damp and/or windy environment a fair part of the time, somehow more shiver making for me.

So, I can see the lake could have a similar effect..

I'm afraid it looks as if we won't be able to attend. Our little jewelry shop is proving happily successful and as all our pieces are designed and made by Jane and I, that puts a significant demand on our time right now quite aside from merely running the store. Proximity to mother's day makes this period even more critical.

Sorry folks. Love you all.

Well, it'll be tough, but we'll try to manage. Wink

Guess we'll have to settle for talking about you...instead of to you.

It is sad that Blatham is not coming. Blatham and Gus both have a habit of leaving their hats on during dinner.

It doesn't look like I'll be able to make it either. Got a family issue that needs close tending. I'll be watching for posts about all the fun you folks have.

Actually, they'll pass up that super chance not only to sell a lot to high class potential customers but it would have been a worldwide advertisement without any costs.

Well, what Eva said.
