True, I'll be driving in and will have a car handy for whatever we might need.

If you guys are going to smoke cigars, I'll find someplace else to be besides the pub. Sorry, but lots of smoke makes my eyes water like crazy, and I don't want you all to see me with mascara running down my face. Again, I'm sorry. Just tell me if I need to make other plans.

I'm good for a couple of glasses of white wine, but not much past that, c.i. Very generous of you.

Don't worry osso, I planned on supplying the beverages from the beginning and I already rented the room. Maybe a collection to help pay for the rental fee, but I will leave that to everyones discretion.

Yep, count me in for the collection, sublime.

And Eva, I'll be with you when the cigar smoke gets thick. I'd probably last about three minutes in the room if there are multiple cigars lit.

mac11, Don't worry. I'll make it mandatory that anybody that wants to smoke a cigar will have to do it outside. Wink

No, no, I don't want to impose my will on the group! Let's make it democratic. If there are more people that want to smoke, those of us who don't like it will go outside.

Besides, it'll be May. It should be nice outside.

sublime, I'll bring enough wine to satisfy the white and red drinkers. Might even bring some vinegar. LOL
Bring a decent white, my friend, I've got the the red covered with a case of Alexander Valley Vineyards Cabernet (terrific smoky-oaky cab), sure to please even the snobs (trust me, I know ). It's so good I'll bet a nickel one bottle out of the case will be turned! Sub, I'll also kick in for your troubles. It is just too cool of you to volunteer the way you have.

Ps. B&B may suck up a couple of those bottles while contemplating B&B'S B&B… sorry.

(1) Count me in for the beverage collection. Would you like a PayPal transfer before the event, or is it okay if I give you the money when we meet?

(2) I drink water (not too sparkly) and wine. Diet Coke is fine too, but regular sodas are not because I have diabetes.

(3) I don't smoke myself, but wouldn't mind if other people smoked cigars around me.

1) ditto to what Thomas said.
2) fruit juice or mineral water or ... preferrable coffee ... anything non-alcoholic,
3) although I'll stop smoking from Thursday, May 4, 09:00 onwards (that's when I'll leave by plane my local airport), I don't mind others smoking whatever.

Thomas, if you have a preferred mineral water over the S. Pellegrino, I can easily substitute. I don't think of it as overly bubbly, but I'm happy to oblige.

S. Pelegrino is nice. I drink it often when I eat out.

Since this is not "official" info, how can I find out how many attending the first pub meeting smokes cigars? I bought some in Miami produced by a Cuban family who grows their own tobacco and makes their own cigars. If the demand is "reasonable," I can bring some to be enjoyed on the first nite. The son of the cigar company owner smokes ten every day, and they make them specially for Ahnold and some other notables.

Chicago has a Clean Indoor Air Ordinance, which prohibits smoking in most indoor public facilities. Most bars, however, can opt out until 2008. Smoking cigars indoors, on the other hand, is routinely discouraged even in many bars. I've smoked cigars at Kingston Mines (blues clubs are pretty smoky places anyway, I don't think anyone noticed), but that was some time ago.

That being said, I wouldn't mind a shot at one of those Cubanos, c.i.

joe, So far as I know, you're number one on my list for a cigar. Can't be too bad, since Ahnold and other well-knowns smoke them. The son of the owner also told us that Ahnold smokes smaller ones, because he smokes so many every day (orders about 100 every month).

Don't want to interrupt the canoodling, but I feel like I have a vested interest here since I originally suggested the B&B. I might have to help you guys get it started. You'll need a good p.r. person, won't you? (Strictly pro bono for you two.)

Better make it three bottles, Bill. Laughing

Sounds great!

(is there something wrong with the quote feature today? It looks like nobody can make it work right)
