Speaking of Jazz, J_B -- what was the name of this blues musician whom both you and sublime brought a CD of on Sunday?
John Mayall with Eric Clapton, "Blues Breakers", the concert I'm trying to talk him into was Sonny Landreth.
I saw Regina Carter several years ago, opening for Abby Lincoln. She was wonderful. Visually stunning. Dreadlocks and a Strat go together very well.
I am very pleased that so many had a great time in Chi, my old roost. Sometimes I really miss it and when I do, it's the skyline and architecture that I miss most of all.
Thanks! I'll try to buy it before it starts raining.

Hello, Thomas! I am so envious that you get to stay another week. I see you've started picking up our accents already. It just needs a little more work now...you need to slur it together into a "y'all." Work on that before you make the Route 66 trip, 'k?
Seriously folks, Thomas speaks English as well as he writes it, which is very well indeed. He is a fine fellow, and I am tickled I got to meet him.
... and we're trying to keep him!
J_B, joefromchicago & sublime were absolutely perfect hosts. They could teach a few Southerners I know a thing or two about hospitality.
Oof! You're going to
Second City?! No fair! I wanna go, too!!
I am sitting here at my desk, which is covered with notes about everything that I have to catch up on. I am having a difficult time readjusting to normal life. This sort of news does not make it any easier. At least tell me the tickets are astronomically priced or something. Help me out here.
Dunno yet, Joe's made the arrangements.
What's this I hear about you and Thomas? Must of been when I was in the corner with, um, whathisnameagain?
pssst, eva. forget what i said earlier today. (at the moment, gus is preoccupied with j_b)

You can guess how much work I'm getting done by the number of posts I'm making here today.

Yeah, but it's not the way y'all thaink. (Better, Eva?)
Yeah!
Am organizing my photos instead of working. Will upload them to Raven's Realm later so I can post them here.
Had to take the dog to the vet. Came home last night and he was limping on one front leg! Hope it's nothing serious. Will pick him up in a little while...they're doing an x-ray.

Well! I have no idea what you're talking about! We were just reading our Gideon's Bibles...honest!
(Thanks, LTX!)

That's the name I couldn't remember
We are going to listen to and see in Dortmund in July:
Quote:Eric Clapton, Guitar, along with Doyle Bramhall II and Derek Trucks also on Guitar, Chris Stainton and Tim Carmon on Keyboards, Willie Weeks on Bass, Steve Jordan on Drums, The Kick Horns: Simon Clarke, Roddy Lorimer, and Tim Sanders on Brass, and backing vocals by Michelle John and Sharon White.

JLNobody told me a couple of minutes ago on the phone that my accent is German
But he said, too, that I'm a nice fellow and he wants to meet me soon
I have just returned from a mission of mercy. When I heard Walter had lost the combination to his suitcase I figured I could help, since I have dabbled in the art of lock picking for many years.
His was one of the easier models to open. I must say I was a bit surprised at the contents.....
Those damn Germans like to travel

Just got home, what an excellent time.
Sorry Eva. The cast was perfect and the topics seemed to hit home perfectly with so many threads posted here. Everything from chylroform to Bush to the tooth fairy ("I almost forgot")
Thanks again to JB for picking up the tab and to Joe for introducing me to the venue. And lets not forget George Bush as he has a clear strategy for victory in Iraq.
Second City.
Just stepped in the house about 20-minutes ago, but it took me this long to read through six pages of banter from attendees and non-attendees. What can I say? It was a grand time in Chicago with some real special people. Too bad we missed some of you that were supposed to show up! No excuse next time.
Last evening, I did the Hancock Observatory just before sunset, and watched the city light up like a christmas tree. It was very special - seeing Chicago from the sky.
Thanks to our Chicago hosts and hostess for leading the way to some great meals and music. Thanks to OBill for that great wine; from California, ofcoarse!
I visited Union Station this morning to see if I could remember how it looked from the outside and inside. The exterior didn't change, but the interior changed dramatically except for the huge hall - waiting room. I noticed the restaurant and kiosk on the great hall were gone, as were the barber shop I frequented.
Chicago still looked the same, but was changed. Marshall Fields and Carson-Prairie-Scott, and the Chicago theater returned some of the nostalgia, but the old ambiance that was Chicago for me is gone. As osso mentioned, the people are still courteous and friendly; which makes Chicago special for big cities around this world.
I'll download my pictures tomorrow, and post a few.
Thanks again to the 'crew' in Chicago for making our visit special.
Good to see ya made it home safe CI, see ya next time. Spain was it?
