Well? Which is it where you come from? Here in the midwest it's pop, people never say soda, but I hear other people do.

From the NE, but I don't generally drink sodas (carbonated beverages of non alcoholic variety). Occasionally I'll have a cola (cafeinated soda), but I almost never drink the stuff. Or a soda water if I'm drinking it with gin.

Well that's interesting, because I grew up in the Midwest, and it was soda there. Dummies in Ohio, where I went to undergrad, called it "Coke." My relatives in New York called it pop.

I just call it "delicious diet black cherry Faygo."

Well, my dad was born in the midwest and grew up in California, my mom was born & raised in the midwest. I was born in CA, but raised in the Pacific NW. I grew up calling it soda pop. Sometimes I call it that, sometimes pop for short and sometimes I ask a guest if they want a coke (meaning Coca-cola) or a soda (meaning anything else fizzy). And now, it seems, I'm also offering people Sob-ees.

Pop. And I detest that word! Laughing

People look at me loopy here when I call it soda or cola.
"D'ya mean Pop?!"
"Fine. Pop." cringe.

To me, anything but Canada Dry ginger ale could just as well be called Disguisting Swill. Smile

I grew up in NY, and I called the drink, "soda". "Coke" was used to signify Coca Cola, although it would sometimes be used generically to indicate other cola drinks, such as Pepsi. I never heard the word "pop", used for carbonated beverages, during my childhood.

Dr. Pepper, so misunderstood.
If anyone would try you they'd know you taste good.

Neither soda nor pop more of a sodee-pop and downright deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelicious!(No longer as tasty as the original but still better than most other things out there)

Grew up in NY Metro area, where it was definitely soda. I still think of it that way, though here it's known as pop...

(Anyone ever had birch beer? I had some once in No. Pennsylvania, and it went down a treat.)

ah yes, birch beer... a truly delightful tasting soda. Not able to get it too often but every so often...can still get on trips to New York sold by Boylan's in a nice dark bottle.
