I recommend not to visit; China, Taiwan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Egypt.
These countries have numerous crimes and assault to tourists.
Plus, your life will even be threatened for just one Dollar.
Better not visit there if you don't wanna kill yourself.
Darn it, and I wanted to see the Sphinxes, Pyramids and Cleopatra.

Xenophobe.
depends on where you go in these countries...sure enough if you find you have wandered into in the slums, what do you expect?

strange. i've been to india and have not felt threatened once...
I lived in China and Bangladesh and had none of the bad experiences you're talking about. I'm Indian and I brought my husband (who is American) to India for a visit-- he had a great time, and I only threatened him once-- that too over a dollar and 75 cents!
Nothing wrong with Egypt either.Been twice ( Luxor ).Good food and very friendly locals,never felt "threatened" at all
Malaysia is nice. And China (Shanghai) was very interesting...
Recently, friends "threatened" me if I was not visiting one of those countries...
Has the host been to all these places and got trouble in each of them?
Who knows, he didnt actualy elaborate if it were 'his' own experience or not---while I did enjoy Buenos Aires I thought it to be a very dirty place, esp in the heart of the city.

Beautiful country, with lovely places to see, or to stay at.
Many things have been rebuilt and looking good.
so today its quite a safe country to travel about in?
