Art is in the eye of the beholder.

I guess that makes porn as art in the hand of the beholder.

But that is a discussion I don't want to go into. Only wanted to make the point.

Is there a poll to verify these figures?

My own personal poll concludes that only 73% of art is not art.

Pornography is as old as man's ability to display, well, anything. Its attraction or replusion, like right or wrong, is purely subjective. Child pornography has problems simply because it is obviously one sided. One can argue from here to eternity whether those participants in heterosexual adult episodes really enjoy their participation therein but their volunteerism is not really in question. It must be said that the demonstrated female enjoyment of anal sex is questionable (I don't think so--think about it!) but obviously consensual. Pornographic? My definifition has a lot to do with how I am treated every day-- I work in retail so....

I had a girlfriend who took great delight in anal sex though I found it repulsive. The relationship didn't last long. JamesMorrison what retail business are you in? Fredericks of Hollywood? The Leather Shop?

hehe... seems you all have ruled out the notion that anal sex can be pleasurable to a girl. The biggest erogenous zone has alwyas been the mind.

Before things become mindlessly labeled as "bad" or "good" or "right" or "wrong," think of how it applies to you. Does porn hinder you from being a better person? Or interfere with your life? And why do you (I'm not accusing you) look at it? I know, it sounds very corny.
If it's to merely satisfy lust...why waste your time with it? (And really, what else is it for?)

Why waste your time reading a book that isn't strictly educational? Or go for a walk in the park? Or star gaze? Or do anything? Why---because it's fun and we like doing certain things.

Yes!
I do think porn is bad. We all have sub-conscious and conscious thinking. Although you may consciously rationalize the benefits of porn, damn near anything and any situations can be rationalized by a person with minimal intelligence and sanity.
You must look deeper. Our society has many problems which have led to this world being so very messed up. I think we can all agree the world is crazy. Then look deeper at the parts and how they contribute to the craziness. We are not apes and procreation is not just something to do. It is to be taken seriously. Creating life is the most important thing you can do in life. It is an immense responsibility. Filling a hole and having your hole filled is not what it is all about. That is all about self-gratification and the "me" aspect of our society. I think porn plays a factor in discontentment with marriage, promiscuity, STD's, and distorted view of relationships. Although you may think different, it's the sub-conscious you must come into contact with. It sub-consciously leads to the objectification of woman. Sure you may be nice to them, if it's in your nature, but can you ever truly be happy as a WHOLE??? Think for yourself. Don't take my word for it. Look at yourself as close as possible. When you reach total self-actualization through spirituality or meditation (or any other method which works) I believe you will see the impact porn has on the immoralization of society and our lowered virtues.
Have I ever watched porn? Yes. Have I awakened and seen the impact it had on me? Yes. I got rid of all my porn !! I am free.

Does porn hinder me from being a better person?

-No

...and if it's merely to satisfy lust...

How many times have we (men) gone out and romanced a woman for the sake of lust? How many times have you (women) been led to believe that there was romance because the man just wanted to f**k. Of course, it works the other way as well, but no as often.

So, lust can hinder a man from being a good person. From lust he can lie, cheat and claim love where there is none, just because he feels lust.

In my opinion it is better to use porn to satisfy lust, as opposed to swindling a member of the oposite sex for the same reason, wich is often the alternative.
