sometimes I go out to the garden with a bowl of water and a salt shaker and pick the maters and eat them right from the plucking but sometimes I pick the mater and put it in the freezer for 15 minutes to get it icy cold and then eat it. am I fickle?

No, just lucky! Out here, the coyotes would be first in line...
Very lucky. Oh that sounds divine. I wish I had tomatoes! I can totally eat a tomato like an apple. :-)
Icy cold? I've never tried that..
Am heartened to hear you have tomatoes as late as late October...
Never tried icy cold either. Maybe I will though - next summer :-(
