Recently, the settings box on our Rainsoft system would respond with an error message when trying to set the hardness button. All other input buttons worked.
Yesterday the local Rainsoft distributor sent a tech out to look at it. This fellow was new and seemed a little unsure. He proceeded to take unsecure the 2 circuit boards without unplugging the unit. Well as you probably imagined he touched the boards together and there was a minor flash and the fuse popped.
He then calls in and prices new boards for $360 plus $85 service call. Or they could replace my whole system for $2400 with a $2400 trade in on the old system. Or replace the computer unit and valves for $1200.
I really don't want to spend $360 on circuit boards (seems expensive) let alone the other upgades.
I figure the ststem to be about 9 years old (not the original owner) pictures attached.
Any help or suggstions would be appreciated.
