For some reason I was thinking about Youve got Mail the other day and that phrase Tom Hanks character says from teh godfather 'Go to the mattresses'.
Ive never seen any Godfather filmsCan someone tell me what it means?
Was Winona Ryder in one of them?
That's when the gangsters leave their normal place of residence and hole up in some cheap motel. They lay low until it is time for the bullets to fly.
Very exciting stuff.
I can't remember when in the movie they use that phrase. It think it might be used more than once. I've also heard Gus' interpretation. Now I have to go watch the movie to find out when and how they use it.
Have you ever gone to the mattresses, Phoenix?
I thought she was the perfect gangster girl, quiet, stupid, compliant, nothing to say.
Phoenix wrote:Gus- Is that an offer????
Not an offer, Phoenix, but more of a request.
Gus, are you making Phoenix an offer she can't refuse?
Because some day, she will call on your for a favor.
I read somewhere that Winnona Judd was offered the script but she ate it instead.
You broke my heart, Fredo. You broke my heart.

Just remember Gus, if you ever touch my sister again, I'll kill ya.
Can I touch your sister, then?
I didn't know until this day that is was Barzini all along.
Well then...leave the gun and grab the cannoli.
Yes, bob, you can.
But remember: Leave the gun. Take the cannoli.
