That's right, exactly as SuperG said: I had even bought new batteries to enable me to take flash photos that evening, but was so caught up in the conviviality of the occasion, I completely forgot to get the camera out. Silly me.

Still, it gives us an excuse, if one were needed, to get together again!

Other pic coming up.

Vinit (aka Vinsan) meets Clary at the little restaurant in the Heritage, Byculla, Mumbai.

We all had lunch there, where I was staying, before we left for our Bangalore flight.
Vinit kindly came down (a one-hour taxi ride in heavy traffic) to see us and then accompanied us back, all shoehorned into a small taxi, to Santa Cruz Airport.

It was a very nice occasion, and he gave us Ganesh figures which ensured the smooth running of the rest of our trip.

This shows we actually were at the Hyatt.

By the pool, at sundown look out for the mosquitoes which are very naughty- they bite you on the elbow and under the arm where you can't see them. Smile

Clary and I arrived after our shopping trip downtown (yes, including camera batteries, and including a trip to FabIndia (q.v.- Google)) around five o'clock, had a coffee, a drink, and a nice meal and were later joined by SuperG after work. SG phoned Vinsan- he was tied up at work too (Hey, whatever floats your boat, say I) so was unable to join us. We had to leave around midnight for the airport, nearby, and the overnight flight.

Sorry no further pics that evening- perhaps I was a bit preoccupied.

Taken with you, yes of course. But I don't actually possess a camera, it was stolen by a wicked roofer.

I like the photos - the way the mozzies aren't noticeable.

Bombay duck

The Bombay duck (Harpadon nehereus, Bengali: bamaloh, Gujarati: bumla, Marathi: bombil) is a teleost fish, primarily originating in the waters between Mumbai (formerly Bombay) and Kutch in the Arabian Sea. A small number are also found in the Bay of Bengal. The fish is often dried and salted before it is consumed. After drying, the odour of the fish is extremely powerful, and it must consequently be transported in air-tight containers.

Etymology of the name
The origin of the term Bombay duck is uncertain. Some authors advance the theory that, during the British Raj, the fish was often transported by rail after drying. The story goes that the train compartments of the Bombay Dak (in English, the Bombay Mail) would smell of the fish, consequently leading the British to euphemistically refer to the peculiar smell as the "Bombay Dak". This was supposedly corrupted into "Bombay duck", although the likelihood of this origin is questionable.

Oh yeah? Well here's a bad one (but one for which I had great hopes), where the camera focussed neither on the foreground nor apparently anywhere else), and which is entitled

"Look out, girls, the Fleet's in!"

(as Clary ignores the Indian Navy)

I think the correct nautical term is "uphill".Some gradients on the high seas can be really intimidating.
