As some may know, McTag and I are journeying to the land of salwar and sambal next month. For me it will be a nostalgic trip, visiting Mumbai and Kerala for the first time in 30 years. For McTag, a totally new experience. Our reactions therefore maybe somewhat different!
All we have planned so far is to fly to Mumbai on 19th November, and we are 'booked in' with a friend of mine in Bangalore from around 23rd (giving us time for the 24 hour train journey if we feel like it), and also booked in for 26/27 with a further friend at the Jungle Retreat (http://www.jungleretreat.com/) in a game reserve. I have a very old photo of me on an elephant there in 1975 which luckily I can't post because of lack of scanner.
After that, who knows????

Well, a 26 days journey might not lead to so many adventures as Odysseus got during his 10 year long trip, but yours will be an as good read as Homer's tales, I'm sure .... and better updated and especially better pictured as well

ok let you off once. But when you are back this time, will not accept any lack of scanner or elephant as reasonable excuse.

Well I dont know about you or McTag, but I'm getting quite excited about this. Think I will see my gp and get the innoculation shots...just for the hell of it.

I'm going in March. I can't wait.
My guy and I will be attending a wedding somewhere in the vast reaches of Punjab, flying into Delhi, but of course I want to venture off the planned regimine and visit the Taj Mahal.

If I can tag on (pardon the pun) to this thread, I'd love a few pointers or maybe a tip or two.
Ta ceili.

I yearn to see your diaries as you are both excellent writers, each in your way. Of course you have to go first. Hurry up.

where are you guys staying in Mumbai? The Parsi neighborhood dow around the Taj hotel is very nice, and there are little hotels which are affordable.
The Mariott is not, but it has free wireless network al throughout, and the most grandiose lobby I've ever seen. I used to go there just to check email... Sigh. Maybe I will again one day. Soon.
