I'm having extreme difficulty with ImageShack in getting it to accept my photos.
This might be something to do with my Symantec firewall.
If anyone has got any suggestions for a fix, or another image-hosting site I could try, please suggest away.

Meatime, here is the Bombay/Mumbai waterfront showing the Taj Hotel and the Gateway to India monument.

Photobucket seems to answer, thanks Osso.

Here's me and Clary with our new friend, whom we met at Mudumalai Nature Reserve in the Nilgiri Hills:

BTW has anyone seen Clary? I think Christmas must have got her in its grasp...

Obviously lacking Clary's star quality.

The "big" version of that photo shows I am smiling...a bit.

Well, that seems to have raised a storm of apathy...

Here's the boat which took Clary to Lakshadweep

Here's the hotel (cabins) where we first stayed in Fort Kochi, with a shady courtyard by the harbour entrance...an idyllic spot for a boat-spotter like me, and we could take our meals at a table by the jetty, on the water.

Oh lovely photos, thanks for posting them McT!! I have been too cold to type, but also had to write 50 xmas cards and go and see people - only time for the occasional word game as Good Spy Walter knows.

Sorry to hear the British winter cold is getting to you, Clary. Time to plan your next escape to warmer climes, I think! Very Happy

Thanks for the photographs, McTag!

I think they are fantastic, Taggers. I love the one of you and Clary, and the boat and delightful cottage are great. I usually wait for the entire tour before commenting.

Believe it or not, it is cold here as well.

I thought you said you never saw the boat for Lakshadweep after Clary got on board? Anyway no matter excellent pictures, thanks. Did either of you get to ride an elephant?

I said, it never left its mooring and I got fed up waiting to photograph it as it sailed past our jetty.

She said later, it eventually sailed two hours late.

I took that picture (out of the field of fire of the guard with the rifle) as my ferryboat sailed past it.
So, no picture of the boat under way.
(Although I have got a pic of it or its sister-ship, taken a week later)

Claro?

No elephant ride, unfortunately.

This is the boat (yes, another boat) we sailed through the Kerala backwaters and waterways on, near Alleppey.
It was silently propelled by a boatman with a bamboo pole, and me.
Lots more coconut trees...a lovely and idyllic place.
The backwaters extend about 100 km by about 10 km in width

This is taken from my hotel balcony, which overlooked the harbour on the south cape, a little town called Kanniyakumari. (a little town with a big name)
It shows the temple and the statue which stand on their respective rocky islets, just offshore.
It is a Hindu place of pilgrimage.

This is the feet of the statue. It has another 133 or so, being over 40m high...a very imposing edifice. It commemmorates a saint called Thiruvalluvar, and the temple is to honour Swami Vivekananda, a hindu sage and philosopher.

Sunset by the fishing nets, Fort Kochi
Actually these ones are on the Vypin Island side (the north side of the harbour entrance).
