About 600 compete to see who can build the tallest and strongest spaghetti structure.
About 600 builders used spaghetti noodles as a substitute for steel Monday and Tuesday as they tried to build a water tower.
The students, enrolled in a freshman engineering course, participated in three competitions to build the tallest structure capable of holding a water balloon. Each of the seven-member groups had nothing but an 8-ounce box of pasta and a roll of masking tape.
