Shrek 2 - HELP for PS2

Ok, so I must be doing something wrong or totally missing something. But I need help...In the woods (where you have Puss, Donkey, Fiona and Shrek) I can't seem to get anywhere! I get to the second gated hut but after I pass the blades and defeat the men, I can't go anywhere. Am I missing something??
