Rainsoft and stains in my sinks------------salt or potassium

I have a rainsoft water conditioner. It was great for the first year when the rust stains on all my sinks and toilets disappeared. Now the stains are back. What do I need to do to fix this?

Also my wife has been diagnose with osteoporosis. We did some research and it was stated that the salt in softeners will cause this. So she is not drinking our water and I'm looking into using the potassium tables instead of salt. Anyone have some thoughts on this???

Skip the potassium and look into a reverse osmosis sytsem or better still a distillation system for you drinking water.
These remove salts and much more from your drinking, cooking and ice make up water.

The stains - is your system still using salt as it once was?
Have you tried "Red-Out" salt blocks or pellets?
Do you also have an acid neutralizer or other filter installed ahead of your softener?

I hope this helps.
