My brother's girlfriend, 30 years ago, was a Palestinian with no papers.
She couldn't get a passport because Israeli's made sure she belonged to nowhere; she wasn't born in Israel, there was no Palestine, and she could never go home. She was waiting for citizenship, which she eventually got, but the rest of her family were also in the same boat, some in Canada, some not. They'd been striped of everything, but maybe I'll give her a call and tell her she's a beneficiary of British Imperialism, I'm sure she'll thank you too.

Yep, I get to enjoy Canada, because it's beautiful. I live in a city that is 20% immigrants, 1/5 and at least double that first gens. Many of them are here because of - and I guess, subsequently are benefiting from British Imperialism too. However, the English didn't think Canada was worth much and gave us independence when we asked for it. You should read the parliamentary transcript, it's hilarious how those snobs undervalued this land and happily threw us away.
Again, why do I live here? English racism maybe? I'm now learning is acceptable, but Anglophobia is a horrendous crime. Hmmmm.
And unlike England, Canada is dealing with it's racist past. We've gone through Truth and Reconciliation, and have implemented many of the changes and are working towards the rest. We know how to say Sorry and mean it.

Re Gaza and the West Bank, our politicians are behind the curve of public opinion, nothing new there.

The Trump criminal cartel have now stopped embassies accepting student visa applications.
So they can come up with a more despicable way of vetting the students. Basically checking their online history.
Regardless of the fact that students were already vetted, but not Trump style vetted.
Advice being given to students is to erase anything that the Trump/Maga/Republican scum might find offensive.

For instance, woe is you if you have any affinity with the LGBTQ community or worse still if you have shown any empathy towards the suffering of the Palastinian people. But worst of all if you have in any way shape or form criticised Trump and his cronies or the Maga/Republican scum who support them you're a goner.

So students what you've got to do is delete all of the above and replace it with copious praise for the orange turd and his cartel, really go overboard with how wonderful they are.
Also plenty of praise for Putin and hatred for Zelensky and high praise for Netanyahu and his genocidal war, they'll like that.
Throw in a liking for Orban, KimJong Un and any other fascist scumbags you can think of.

This will end badly for the US. Most of the scientist, doctors, engineers that are in these Universities are foreign students who pay extravagant fees for the privilege of being educated at some of the best schools in the world. They also subsidized the locals and that won't happen anymore.
But, what will happen is that these brilliant students will go elsewhere and help build the economies of the nations that allowed them to study and the rest of us will be better off for it. Let the racist pieces of **** show the world how NOT to do it.
