I don't have a gambling problem, it's one of the few vices I don't have. The extent of my gambling is a couple of lottery tickets every month or so and a bet on the Grand National.
Lots of pe ople do have terrible problems though, over here the news is full of stories about safeguards that the big chains simply aren't following.
Steps where people can voluntarily ban themselves from sites are being ignored. Emails are still sent when declined etc. meaning it's a lot harder for people to give up the habit.
Now the bit about A2K.
I am being followed by about 27 posters who have never posted anything. A couple don't have any hypertext but most do, well over 23 are gambling sites, and there's also an escort service in Istanbul.
This is a way these people reach out to gamblers. I don't have a problem, but if I did, and had taken steps to cut off contacts, spam followers on A2K could still temp me.
They do not seem to serve any useful purpose at all, the opposite, their presence is malign.
Is there any way those accounts/ profiles could be deleted?
Or some algorithm where you can't follow anyone until you've posted x amount of times?
@izzythepush,
Just got another one today, RaviKapor980.
Another scam merchant for a lousy gambling site.
@izzythepush,
LOL, I never noticed that before, but I've got them too. Lonely women looking for love, gamblers, etc.
@engineer,
At least you get offered lonely women, I get Turkish prostitutes.
@izzythepush,
…but are the lonely? Turkish delight, perhaps?

Have you considered turning off the notifications for new followers?
My Preferences
Effectively speaking, the I've considered My Friends tab and the Follow User option on individual pages to have been pretty useless and DOA - function wise.
