Paint inside of food storage closet

I recently decided to paint over the bare wood inside the kitchen utility closets. Now the smell inside them smells like chemical paints. Its been awhile since I put the paint on but the smell lingers. Is there a way to paint smell free paint over to get rid of the smell of this awful paint or is there some sort of seal spray or something that will lock the smell inside the paint and out of my foods and utilities?
