i T IS ESTIMATED THAT bRITAIN'S homeowners need to spend a total of £48 Billion in repairs to keep the housing stock in good repair.
Even a lick of paint is a small step.
Or, another option is to tear them all down and start again.
Seriously though it is a hard reminder of how things build up to unimaginable levels of cost if the basics are ignored for too long.
Some homes don't qualify as decent accommodation.
Well, they could become like Americans and go into debt up to their eyeballs because they have to keep their "starter castles" looking good for the neighbors.
