Not to worry. One of your less classy customers heard you. Say, do you mind if I drink this cognac straight from the bottle? (I warned you I was one of the less classy.)

<A pair of burly, mountainous, knuckle-dragging, caveman-looking bozos lumber in and climb up onto the bar. Everyone stops and looks. They look back...menacingly. They are both armed with baseball bats. The one with the patch over his left eye speaks.>

Duuh...ummm...anyone know where we might find the owner?

<Bozo #2 looks around the room. A trail of drool hangs from his lower lip. Bozo #1 (the one with the eye patch) looks at Osso, lifts his bat and lets it fall heavily into his open palm.>

Bozo #1: "Do you know where we might find the owner? We got a whatchacall...business proposition for her."

there is something inherently honest about BBQ ribs and whisky that you can't find with mint iced tea and cucumber finger sandwiches. (the belch comes from the cucumbers)

Dora wanders in, still shaken from the glimpse she had of rampant depravity in Kicky's saloon a moment ago...

"Maybe I can relax here? Uh-oh..."

She looks around and sees the type of people she has to wait on at her job every day....ostentatiosly sipping their wine and laughing their sophisticated little laughs... She backs toward the door...

Make me a map to Rudy's, Dys. You know how easily I get lost.

I'll testify to the good food there.. just didn't notice whisky too. Talk about nirvana. Mebbe the whisky comes later..

Looks at tee shirt for spots. Osso eats like a sea otter, sophisticated foodie that she is.

What the ??? -- I was just back there in my tastefully decorated office, working on Sunday's Brunch -- when I heard a commotion out here.

Who were those two goons I saw walking out the door? The two that looked like Lucca Brazzi's less intelligent brothers?

Hey!!! They grabbed some of my dainties!!! I can't believe it! You can't just go around grabbing other people's dainties!!

Well, if they come back, I'm ready. I'm pretty good at making propositions myself!

(wiping off pretty goblets and setting down on bar)

On being a foodie, I was a foodie before the word became used for people who became foodies after me. Drives me a little nuts actually. I have a friend, newly very wealthy, who doesn't tell her old friends about the extremely good restaurants she goes to so we don't feel bad. But but... I want to hear the meal descriptions.

Class and snobbery are but a thin membrane apart, related to what Dys said.

That's true, osso. But here at Stray Cat's bistro, you can get both! Hee!

Here's another great quote:

"Great wits are sure to madness near allied
and thin partitions do their bounds divide."

Now, who said that? It wasn't Shakespeare. I believe it was Thomas Moore.

Howdy! Me and my pals here just thought we'd check out your joint and see if we like the
food and drink. Hope we're welcome here. Mind if we take that table
in the corner?

Uh, yeah.....Actually, we're kind of busy this evening....

But there's a place across the street that has plenty of room. (smiling) It's called Kickycan's Saloon.

Why, you'll love it there. (shoving them out the door)....
