Once again, it's NOT surprising you conveniently forget that with thousands of separate school divisions in the US alone, that there would be thousands of differing policies on this and other topics making this lazy question of yours impossible to answer with a simple yes or no answer.

i doubt even the reddest of red states would require a child to attend the same public school that a parent taught at...

I was thinking of rural areas where the only other school options are literally hours (each way) away from where the student lives.

I appreciate the differing answers that have been given.

I was motivated to ask the question by my finding where I live of many poorly performing public schools, and I wondered if the teachers in those schools sent their kids there. If they don't, it suggests their own opinions of some public schools.
