I'm in good circumstance myself, but I realize I could end old, alone and on the streets in the right situation. You've asked questions most of us need to ponder in a "what happens if" conversation internally.
I know I have thought it out. Especially at 73, I don't have too many family member to camp out on a couch at. My big ace in the hole is that I am a veteran.
Any chance you are a vet? Because that is a good place to start.
If I were you, I'd get that warrant squared away. There are legal services for the homeless that could help you out. It just might take contacting the warrant holder. It may be they've already quashed the warrant if it's been long enough and if the charges were as minor as you suggest.
