I will be in Faversham when it's on, but I won't be going to the festival itself.

@Mame,
Because it costs extra and involves camping.

I'm staying in a hotel.

@Mame,
I went to Hawkfest about 2 years ago, that was camping, but it was centred around a band I love.

This isn't. I'm going on a sentimental journey. I was born in the area and haven't been back since I was a teenager.

The hop festival is coincidentally on at the same time.

@bobsal u1553115,
I'm only going to spend one day there, there's other places I want to revisit.

@bobsal u1553115,
Yes.

It was a festival centred around the band.

I also saw Arthur Brown the God of Hellfire.

I'll be seeing him again soon.

@izzythepush,
Saw Hawkwind live at University of Akron athletic field in the summer of '71.

Great concert and beautiful show and costuming. Had several albums from the 70s.

The firstime I saw Arthur Brown was on Tom Jone's TV show, around '68 or '68 and he was pretty amazing, and a surprising guest for Jone's show. Great act, he came through the audience borne by four "slaves" and did 'Fire', went out and bought the Crazy World of Arthur Brown and later bought the Atomic Rooster album. They had a great pulsing sound I just loved.

@bobsal u1553115,
Arthur Brown still has a fantastic voice.

He really does, I was very impressed.

I have seen Hawkwind more times than I care to mention.

At Hawkfest I had achat with Dave Brock.

That was a really good festival.

The owners of the site couldn't believe it, the before and after pictures were pretty much identical, no rubbish or mess, everything cleared away.

They said they'd have us back any time.

Compare that to the mess left behind at the big organised middleclass festivals like Glastonbury.

I'm going to no show another festival too. Whitby, (of Dracula fame) has a Goth festival every 6 months.

There's a big market too. The market and everything else is free, but the bands costs.

My dil wants to go to the market, and none of us have heard of the bands
so we won't be paying for that.

Last year The Damned played, now I would be up for them, but they're not playing this time.

I've bought a parking ticket for Saturday 2nd.

It wasn't easy the website wasn't working so I had to phone up and they would fix it.

When it was fixed it was really slow and hard to get the buttons to work.

@bobsal u1553115,
I've been looking forward to going there for a while.

I'm interested in the charter markets and the place itself.

This is the first available weekend.

It means I have to book up parking in advance and will be subjected to folk music and morris dancing which I do not like.

I like beer and am looking forward to all the different brews available.

I'm only going there for the day, the rest of the time I will be visiting my old haunts.

I am looking forward to the long weekend in a really good hotel.

@izzythepush,
Morris dancing also has a tradition of blackface.

The reason being that at the time of its conception begging was illegal.

It was technically begging, and blackface meant there was plausible deniability. Nobody recognised who was begging.

Some groups have changed the colour because of the racist overtones, some places now do greenface instead, but I'd rather they avoided it all together.

@izzythepush,
Had a great day.

People quite disarmingly friendly.

I'll post some photos when I get home.
